What to Expect

What should I expect when I visit on Sunday
We want City of Refuge to be a place of hope and healing. We believe this is found in having a personal relationship with a loving, faithful God. It is our privilege to serve and help provide an atmosphere for that relationship to develop. We are intentional about worshipping in spirit and truth, learning and growing victoriously in the Word, and providing a place of safety for those who are hurting. We have determined that, “We will worship, live, and serve in the freedom of Spirit and Truth as we declare His name to the nations.”
City of Refuge is a unique blend of people. That is reflected in everything we do. At City of Refuge we love to praise and worship God. The Word of God tells us that He inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3)

We play instruments during our time or worship.
(2 Samuel 6:5, Psalm 150, and Isaiah 38:20)
At times, we may get loud in our worship! We are excited about our God!
(Psalm 66:1, Psalm 88:1, Psalm 98:4-6)
We sing and lift our voice to worship and praise the Lord.
(Exodus 15:21, Psalm 95:1-2, Ephesians 5:19)
We lift our hands as a sign of surrender and honor towards God.
(Psalm 63:4, Psalm 134:2, 1 Timothy 2:8)
We clap our hands and make a joyful noise unto the Lord.
(Psalm 47:1, Isaiah 55:12)
We will speak in an unknown language as the Holy Spirit communicates through us and in us.
(1 Corinthians 2:111, Romans 8:26-27, Acts 2:4)
We worship the Lord and rejoice through dancing before Him.
(2 Samuel 6:16, Psalm 30:11, Jeremiah 31:3)
We use signals and banners in our worship to declare the attributes of God. The colors speak and signify characteristics of our Lord.
(Psalm 20:5, Isaiah 62:10, 1 Samuel 18:6, Song of Songs 2:4)

We are a family. We love children! We are raising the leaders of the next generation! We have done all possible to make sure that your children are in good hands with us… but if you’re uncomfortable leaving your children in a new place, feel free to keep them with you. However, we do provide nurseries and classes for children to age 12.
If you like dressing up, dress up! If you like wearing jeans, wear jeans! You will find that the dress and atmosphere is as unique as the people who attend. City of Refuge is a loving group of people who accept you as you are.
